What are the conditions for piezo transducer’s testing?


Dynamic Range: The dynamic range of the piezo transducer is the ratio between the high amplitude signal and the minimum amplitude signal so that the piezo transducer can be translated effectively. When the piezo transducer has a high dynamic range, it will be more precise and sensitive.


Repeatability: Repeatability is the ability of a piezo transducer to produce equal output once it is stimulated through a similar input.


Noise: The output of the piezo transducer will add some random noise. In electronic sensors, the resulting noise may be electronic noise due to the thermal effect of the charge in the circuit. Small signals are more likely to be damaged by noise than large signals.


HysteresisUnder this attribute, the output of the piezo transducer not only depends on its current input, but also on its past input. For example, the actuator uses a gear train with a certain reaction force. When the direction of movement of the actuator is reversed, there will be a dead zone before the output of the actuator is reversed through the play between the gear teeth.


How can we use piezo transducers correctly?


Using a piezoelectric sensor is the simplest task, just connect the positive and negative terminals to the circuit and press the top of the piezo transducer. Due to mechanical pressure, it will generate a voltage at the output by pressing, which will be further fed into the circuit. You can simply connect the LED to the piezoelectric sensor as shown in the circuit below. Whenever you press the piezo transducer, the LED will flash.

It is a sensor whose conversion principle is the piezoelectric effect that generates electric charge on the surface of certain crystals after being forced. Some crystals, when subjected to an external force along a certain direction, polarization occurs inside, and charges of opposite signs are generated on two surfaces at the same time. When the external force is removed, it returns to an uncharged state. When the direction of the force changes, the polarity of the charge also changes, and the amount of charge produced by the crystal is proportional to the magnitude of the external force.
